All you need is a relatively open space (like a garage or driveway), some weights to load onto your weight sled, and soon you’ll be in training beast mode, burning calories and building muscles with your very own weight sled.

If you can’t already tell, the weight sled is one of my favourite workout accessories for adding more functional, full body training to your home gym.

Keep on reading for more details about my top recommended choices for a home gym weight sled, whether it be a pull sled, dog weight sled, or weight sled on wheels. No matter your level of experience or training style, there is a weight sled out there to give you a killer workout.

Don't have time to read? Here's my top pick!

Rogue Dog Sled 1.2

Simple, effective, and affordable, the Rogue Dog Sled 1.2 is an all-around workhorse if you're looking for a dynamic workout.

450lb capacity, ability to switch from push to lift modes, a small footprint (40" x 24") are among the many reasons why I think this is the best weight sled around.

Best Weight Sleds for a More Dynamic Workout

Using a weight sled gives you a dynamic workout by raising your heart rate, challenging your strength, and pushing your body to the full extent of your range of motion.

This is different from static workouts (imagine planks or wall sits), which can maintain your strength, but are not nearly as effective at burning calories and building muscles.

The following list will provide you with all the information you need to add more intensity and efficiency to your workout with weight sled equipment.

1. Rogue Dog Sled 1.2

The Rogue Dog Sled 1.2 is a weight sled that is made with the budget conscious home gym owner’s needs in mind.

However, don’t mistake budget friendly for poor craftsmanship. The Rogue Dog Sled 1.2 is strong, durable, and made to stand up to commercial gym use.

It is crafted out of 0.25” Plate Steel, construction grade, to ensure that this weight sled will function on workout # 150, the same way it functioned the first time you used it.

  • Foot Print: 40" x 24"
  • Height: 39.5"
  • Weight: 103LB, 450+LB weight capacity
  • Length: 40" , 4" skid width

The Rogue Echo Dog Sled 1.2 has a 40” x 24” foot print, and a 39.5” height. It can hold up to a maximum of 450lbs or more, even though the dog weight sled itself weighs a measly 103lbs.

When you purchase the Rogue Dog Sled 1.2, it comes with one carabiner and two push poles, which can both be removed and placed on alternate sides of the sled. This dog weight sled can be used for both push and pull style weight sled workouts.

The Rogue Dog Sled 1.2 slides along the floor, so you might opt for the additional dog sled protective plastic skis that Rogue adds on as an accessory purchase, for added protection along your indoor home gym floor.

You can purchase the Rogue Dog Sled 1.2 from the online Rogue store for a killer price of $290.

2. Titan Fitness HD Weight Sled

Titan Fitness makes a weight sled for people who often need to transport their equipment, with the Titan Fitness HD Weight Sled.

Moving your workouts outdoors? The Titan Fitness HD Weight Sled can be easily broken down into smaller parts to fit into the trunk of your car.

Titan makes this innovative weight sled design without compromising on craftsmanship; although it can come apart, the Titan Fitness HD Weight Sled is as strong and as durable as weight sleds made in one piece.

  • High/Low Push/Pull handles with strap hook
  • Builds leg strength, explosiveness, and acceleration
  • Two pole high bar attachments
  • Dual plate horns fit Olympic weight plates

This weight sled uses 11-Ga Steel covered in an attractive finish of powder-coat black, that stands up against the test of time after both indoor and outdoor workouts.

The Titan Fitness HD Weight Sled is 36” tall, 53” long, and 30.25” wide. It weighs an easy to handle 64lbs, but can accommodate a weight load of 600lbs, making the Titan Fitness HD Weight Sled a true test of your brute strength.

Use the poles or the strap hooks on this weight sled to perform high or low, push or pull workouts. The Titan Fitness HD Weight Sled’s weight poles easily fit Olympic style weight plates to help you add resistance while training your overall strength and explosiveness.

Find the Titan Fitness HD Weight Sled on the Titan Fitness website. Prices vary from $169.99 to $199.99 depending on the accessories you add to this weight sled purchase.

3. Happybuy Fitness Training Sled

The Happybuy Fitness Training Sled isn't going to reinvent the wheel, but that's okay.

Loading plenty of plates on is easy and you fit a total capacity of 500lbs and a durable steel frame.

Happybuy's Fitness Training Sled is also easy to assemble and disassemble if you want to take it out to a field to workout which is a nice added bonus.

  • Weather and Water Resistance Steel Body
  • 500lb Weight Capacity
  • Easy Assembly and Disassembly
  • Good Price

Personally, I find it a bit lacking in the total weight capacity. While 500lbs is good enough for most people, a sled is designed to be used as a real brute-force training method.

It does allow you to use it on nearly any surface, like grass as I mentioned, as well as carpeting or mats and the frame is pretty durable. You don't want to leave it outside in the rain but it won't rust from time to time due to weather exposure.

You can find the Happybuy Fitness Training Sled on Amazon for $245.99.

4. miR Weight Sled

Are you a sports athlete looking to improve your speed and explosiveness during sprints? Consider training with the MiR Weight Sled.

The MiR weight sled comes with a vest and straps. To workout with this weight sled, load it to your desired weight using standard weight plates, wear the vest, and connect the vest using the provided straps and O-ring to the MiR weight sled.

  • Maximum weight capacity of 200lbs
  • 24 x 12 x 7 inches; 15.85 Pounds
  • Designed to be used on most surfaces
  • Push bars located on the back of the sled

You can then pull the MiR weight sled using your entire body, without loading your upper back or shoulders by having to physically push this sled.

When you attempt to run with this harness on, and while pulling the pull sled behind you, you are expending much more force than you typically need to during a sprint. Meaning, when you take off this vest and run unencumbered, your sprint will be even faster.

My personal recommendation would be to start light when training your leg drive with this MiR weight sled though. Trust me, it is more challenging than it appears. I would suggest beginning with an empty sled, and then adding more weight as you get comfortable with this piece of equipment.

The MiR weight sled can hold up to 200lbs of weighted resistance, and is safe for most surfaces.

Purchase the MiR weight sled on Amazon for a low $89.71 to accelerate your training now.

5. Rogue Butcher V2 Weight Sled

Rogue does it again with the Rogue Butcher V2 Weight Sled.

As with all Rogue products, this weight sled is heavy-duty, and made to stand up to your most intense workout days.

The Rogue Butcher V2 Weight Sled is crafted with 2x3” 11-Gauge American made Steel (which roughly translates to extremely strong material).

  • Made in the USA with US steel
  • 2x3” 11-Gauge Steel
  • Weight: 74LB / Weight Capacity: 500LB+
  • Compact footprint (42.25" x 47.25")

This steel is then finished with Rogue’s signature Matte Black Powdercoat to ensure the weight sled’s longevity, and your firm grip no matter how sweaty your workout gets.

The Rogue Butcher V2 Weight Sled weighs 74lbs, has an impressive weight capacity of 500+lbs, and has an even more impressive compact footprint (42.25" x 47.25" for folks who want the measurements). Better yet, the dual push pull handles on this weight sled are easily removable, so you can store this Rogue Butcher V2 Weight Sled when it is not in use, or put it in the trunk of your vehicle before your next football practice.

While the Rogue Butcher V2 Weight Sled does require some assembly upon purchase and delivery, fear not. Rogue boasts that this weight sled only takes about 5 minutes of your time to put together, and then you are off to some tough, no-nonsense strength and endurance training.

Pick between the Rogue Butcher V2 Weight Sled’s standard (and replaceable) bolt on feet, or its more protective UHMW plastic skis to make your weight sled compatible for all workout surfaces.

Hop on over to the Rogue website to check out your Rogue Butcher V2 Weight Sled purchase, for a fair price of $285.

6. Rage Fitness R2 Weighted Training Pull Sled

The Rage Fitness R2 Weighted Training Pull Sled is designed for beginner and experienced athletes alike. If you want a versatile and easy to store pull sled for your home gym, I have good news for you…

The R2 Weighted Training Pull Sled is compatible with standard weight plates, including Olympic plates and bumper plates, so that you can add more resistance as you get stronger.

Its lower weight loading bar also ensures that you can add and drop weights during your workout with ease (pull sled drop sets, anyone?).

You can purchase the R2 Weighted Training Pull Sled from the RAGE fitness website for a very affordable price of $69.99.

7. REP Fitness Weight Sled

While the REP Fitness Weight Sled is the last weight sled to be featured on my top weight sled list, do not mistake that for this sled to be of a lesser quality.

In fact, the REP Fitness Weight Sled is a commercial grade weight sled that is highly functional, easy to use, and ready to set you up with some very intense workout sessions.

What stands out to me about the REP Fitness Weight Sled is how versatile this piece of equipment is.

  • Heavy duty 7 gauge and 11 gauge steel
  • Dimension: 42" high, 40" long, 38" wide
  • 3 welded eye bolts allow you to hook up a harness
  • Weight: 75 lbs.

Whether you are working out alone or with a team, the training possibilities of the REP Fitness Weight Sled are bound to keep you engaged and motivated during your workout.

Both poles on the REP Fitness Weight Sled can be loaded with weight plates, allowing you to make this weight sled heavy.

You can also opt to attach carabiners to the front of the sled; I am picturing sprints in a harness with the REP Fitness Weight Sled holding you back, or an attached rope that you have to use to pull the REP Fitness Weight Sled towards you.

While the REP Fitness Weight Sled is a larger sled (42" high, 40" long, 38" wide), it is easy to store with its removable poles. It also promises an easy user assembly; in only 10 minutes of assembly time you should find yourself with a high quality weight sled that is ready to be put to the test.

You can get the REP Fitness Weight Sled from the REP Fitness website for only $199.99.

Final Thoughts

In my mind, you cannot go wrong with adding a weight sled to your home gym. Whether you are bored of your usual cardio workout, want to take up the intensity of your workouts, want to improve your functional fitness, or want to seriously challenge your overall strength, a weight sled can give you the solution you need!
